Tabith's comments came after an international media report claimed that Bangladesh was among the countries supporting Infantino, who is seeking re-election as FIFA president in 2027.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said the decision to scrap FIFA president Gianni Infantino's controversial plan to sell off stakes in the World Cup was "absolutely necessary and beyond question".

Infantino is expected to seek a fourth and final term as FIFA president when the governing body holds its next presidential election in March.

Claudius Schaefer, whose organisation represents 53 professional men's and women's football leagues, said there could be "only one consequence" for Infantino after his plan triggered a storm of protest from regional associations.

Political defeats can be overcome. A loss of credibility is far harder to repair.

The beleaguered Infantino said he would focus on restoring harmony while continuing to grow the game.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Tabith Awal on Wednesday confirmed that FIFA has formally communicated a proposal under which member associations could receive up to $40 million if they back a plan to sell stakes in the governing body's major competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.
