IT is indeed heartening to see justice finally meted out to Md Helal Uddin, who as the OC of Khilgaon Police station picked up Abdul Kadar, a meritorious Dhaka University student, tortured him in custody and later tried to arrest him on trumped-up charges.

A Dhaka court sentences Helal Uddin, a former officer-in-charge of Khilgaon Police Station, to three years’ imprisonment for torturing Dhaka University student Abdul Kadar and implicating him in three false cases three years back.

The two Bangladeshis Anowar Hossain and Helal Uddin who were first abducted by unknown militants from Lybia and later freed, arrives home.
