Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the January 5, 2014 general election was not a voter-less polls, like those held during the BNP and Ershad regimes.

It is a great relief that 5th January passed off without any untoward incident, although the stipulations set by the DMP before giving the go-ahead were observed only in their violation.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia demands the authorities to immediately arrange a parliamentary election under a nonpartisan government. She also calls for discussions with the government for the sake of democracy.

Police allow Awami League and BNP to hold rallies inside and in front of their respective offices tomorrow to mark the January 5 general election.
