Two-time South Asian Games gold-winning weightlifter from Bangladesh Mabia Akter has been handed a two-year ban after testing positive in a doping test. The athlete confirmed the news to The Daily Star.

Bangladesh's most renowned weightlifter Mabia Aktar Simanta lived up to her reputation as she pulled off her national-record score at the women’s 64-kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham earlier this week on Monday.
