The 98th Academy Awards delivered a night full of surprises, memorable speeches, and historic wins as two of Hollywood’s most anticipated films, “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners”, led the evening.

“One Battle After Another” took home the top honor at the 98th Academy Awards, following a ceremony where the film shared several major victories with “Sinners.” 

Michael B Jordan has added another major milestone to his career by winning the Best Actor award at the Academy Awards for his performance in "Sinners". The actor received a strong response from the audience as his name was announced, marking one of the most talked-about moments of the night.

“KPop Demon Hunters” won the Oscar for best animated feature on Sunday, capping a record-breaking run ‌after becoming Netflix’s most watched film ever on its 2025 debut.

Sean Penn won his third acting Oscar on ‌Sunday ( Bangladesh time Monday) for his supporting role as an obsessed military officer in the political thriller "One Battle After Another."

Malhees, who portrays a call centre operator trying to help a five-year-old Palestinian girl trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, said he cannot enter the United States because of his Palestinian citizenship.

The ceremony will be held on March 15 and will be hosted by Conan O’Brien. The show will air live on ABC at 7 pm Eastern/4 pm Pacific.

The shortlist reflects a wide range of political, social and personal narratives, continuing the category’s role as a barometer of global filmmaking beyond Hollywood. The International Feature Film race is often one of the most competitive at the Oscars, with many shortlisted films already established on the international festival circuit.

Academy members from multiple branches cast votes in preliminary rounds covering animated short film, documentary feature, documentary short, international feature, live action short, makeup and hairstyling, original score, original song, sound and visual effects. This year introduced two new shortlist categories: achievement in casting and best cinematography.

The inclusion of this prize brings the total number of live-televised awards to 24 on March 15, when the 98th Academy Awards will take place. While the casting honour is new to the main broadcast, the Academy has also laid groundwork for a stunt design award, set to debut at the 100th Oscars in 2028.

After receiving widespread acclaim for his performance at this year's Academy Awards, Conan O'Brien is set to return as host for the 98th Oscars, scheduled to take place on March 15, 2026.
