With Eid-ul-Fitr fast approaching, the Bangladeshi film industry is buzzing with excitement. Audiences are eagerly waiting for the new titles to release, and the promotional whirlwind has already begun.

The Chorki original web-film “Amalnama”, directed by Raihan Rafi, explores familiar yet unseen harsh realities. Its official poster, released on March 3, hints at a narrative involving “crossfire”, “gunfights”, and “extrajudicial killings” subtly woven into the background.

Alongside “Amalnama”, Zahid will also appear in “Utshob”, a film directed by Tanim Noor, set for release this Eid-ul-Azha. Reflecting on his choices, he added, “I don’t take on projects unless I truly like them. After my break, I’ve worked on two projects and enjoyed both. The audience will see me in different roles in these films.”

In the web-film, Tama takes on the role of Parveen, a character that she found deeply immersive. "It took me quite some time to detach myself from Parveen, even after filming ended. For days, I struggled to move on. This character is one of my personal favorites," she revealed.

While the teaser keeps much of the storyline under wraps, Hasan's appearance has led many to speculate that he might be portraying a police officer.

Puja Chery, who rose to fame with Raihan Rafi’s directorial film “Poramon 2”, has made her web-series debut with his latest project, “Black Money”.  Released on Bongo, the series has sparked significant buzz online, particularly because of the actress’ performance.

This year, an estimated 50 Bangladeshi films have been released. Among these, only a handful have achieved commercial success. Then again, despite not performing well at the box office, other cinematic aspects like actors, actresses, and film songs have managed to remain at the centre of discussions throughout the year.

The global blockbuster became the most successful movie at Star Cineplex, surpassing Hollywood and Bollywood hits.

Puja Cherry plays a glamorous role in the web-series “Black Money”, directed by Raihan Rafi. The show has finished filming and is expected to premiere on Bongo in the new year.

The Vicky Zahed-directed film, titled “Andhokarer Gaan”, revolves around a love story at its core. Apu plays the son of a wealthy man, a young individual struggling with drug addiction.

In a recent media interview, Shakib faced tough questions about the delicate relationship between India and Bangladesh and offered his perspective on the matter.

After a hiatus of about six years, Puja is working with Raihan Rafi again. “I am a bit nervous about what will happen. I previously worked on two hit projects with him, “Poramon-2” and “Dohon”, in the same year. For the first time, I will be starring in a web project directed by him. Also, sharing the screen with Rubel bhai is another reason why I am nervous. I hope it will be well-received by the audience."

Rafi has hinted that the story of “Black Money” is a significant departure from his usual narratives, expressing his excitement about working on this unique project. He also hinted that the cast reveal will surprise many. Meanwhile, there are rumours that film actor Rubel may join the cast, though both Rafi and the production company have opted to keep all official announcements for the press event.

Last Eid-ul-Azha, filmmaker Raihan Rafi created a buzz by directing “Toofan” starring Dhallywood’s megastar Shakib Khan. At the end of the movie, it is hinted that “Toofan 2” will be coming. 

Rafi, known for his hit films like “Poran” and “Damal,” among others broke the news about this next venture yesterday. Speaking to Bangla Tribune, he revealed, “My next film, which is slated for release during the upcoming Eid, is titled ‘Lion’. It will feature two leading men—Jeet from Tollywood and Razz from Dhallywood. Everything else you’ve heard is just rumours.”

Yesterday, the film, presented by the beauty brand Lily, premiered on the OTT platform Binge. Alongside the main cast and director, the premiere was attended by several celebrities, including Bidya Sinha Mim, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, Samira Khan Mahi, Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, and Senior Operative Director Hasan Faruk of Remark HB, among others.

“This character has many dimensions,” Sarika shared. “I was fortunate to have the opportunity to portray such a complex role, and I gave my best to become Maya. I hope the audience appreciates the effort.”

Zahid Hasan has been appearing less frequently in TV dramas, primarily due to dissatisfaction with the storylines. This led him to consciously reduce the number of projects he takes on. News of his acting endeavours has since become rare. 

The film explores the complex struggles of modern women and family dynamics, with Sarika Subrin starring in the titular role. She is joined by Mamnun Hasan Emon, who makes his OTT debut with this project.
