Nrityanchal is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a three-day dance festival at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, bringing together more than 700 young and senior dancers across two major productions.

The Bangladesh Institute of Film and Arts (BIFA) is set to honour two of the nation’s most iconic dance figures, Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad, with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Renowned dancing duo Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa, celebrated for their countless performances both locally and internationally, are set to surprise fans this Eid. Traditionally known for their lifelong dedication to the art of dances, this lively pair is now stepping onto the stage to mark their musical debut. For the first time, they will lend their voices to a special Eid song.

Eid celebration remains incomplete without the enchanting charm of "Ityadi," consistently delivering fresh and distinctive skits and dance performances.

Like every year, this year’s Anandamela also promises to be a worthwhile watch on Eid night for the audience.

Ekushey Padak-winning choreographer and dance maestro Golam Mostofa Khan died Sunday night at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He was 82 years old. After the country’s independence, he was one of the integral figures in the popularisation of dance as an art form in the region. The cultural personality passed away after suffering from pneumonia and old-age related health problems. The Daily Star reached out to eminent dancers from Bangladesh, who shared their respects for the departed figure.
