The essence of the events Bangladesh witnessed during the student-led mass uprising in July and August, which escalated into a bloodied revolution, ultimately toppling the regime of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and giving rise to what we now call a new Bangladesh, is truly inexplicable.

While we have made significant achievements, complacency cannot be allowed

We can’t have the same old politics on university campuses

They should ensure smooth delivery of public services

New laws or even constitutions will not change the political settlement if the rules are not followed

An incredible opportunity has been created to build a more democratic, just and beautiful Bangladesh.

The interim government should call for a plebiscite along with a reform agenda and estimated timeframe to achieve them.
