The longlist for the Booker Prize 2026 has been unveiled, highlighting 13 novels that span a wide range of genres, settings, and themes. The selection has been made from 163 submissions— which includes previous Booker winners Marlon James and Douglas Stuart, alongside former shortlisted author Elizabeth Strout, and 10 first-time longlistees. The list, this year, also introduced three debut novelists.

This year’s Booker Prize will be announced on November 10 in a ceremony that will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 4 and livestreamed on Booker Prize’s social channels.

From the beginning we see Benjamin Honey, the patriarch of the island, longing to return to his past, in a garden, the Eden of his childhood where he reminisces about being with a woman who might or might not have been her mother.

The novels are small revolutions, each seeking to energise and awaken the language. Together, they offer startling portraits of the current.

A serious lack of outlet demotivates the publishing of anglophone literature in our literary scene. But the situation isn't completely bleak.

When being asked how she finds the time to read, she shared that she reads backstage or in the backseat of her car, on her way to meetings or interviews, “especially if I’m into a book”.
