Business leaders yesterday voiced concern as many mills and factories, built at a cost of hundreds of crores of taka, remain unable to go into production due to the lack of gas connections even after depositing payments for demand notes with the state‑owned Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company.

State-run Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd yesterday said its profit dipped 13 per cent year-on-year in the first six months of 2022-23 fiscal year, despite it posted higher earnings in the second quarter.

The lack of gas connections is creating obstacles for companies at the API Industrial Park to conduct their operations even though the project was completed in June last year.

Due to emergency work in a gas pipeline, the supply of gas will be suspended in some areas of Gazipur for 24 hours starting at 9:00 am tomorrow (June 17, 2022) to Saturday 9:00 am.

Gas supply resumes in Dhaka and adjoining areas over 26 hours after the supply was partially halted due to technical glitch at Ashulia gas station, says Titas official.
