Terrible Twins

I have to admit, I have a thing for twins. Especially if they are identical. I mean how fantastic is it to see two people looking like mirror images of themselves? When I was a child I always wished I had a twin and when I knew I was going to be a mother I wished for twins again which didn't happen.
Now I can't help gaping whenever I see them. Especially if they are nice looking and so far I haven't seen a single set of unattractive twins.  
Fraternal twins are also interesting in that they were practically next to each other in their mother's womb and then fought with each other for the exit. They may not look identical but they do have lots of things in common. They may for instance, have the same taste in clothes, opposite sex, music, food etc. But usually they are quite different when it comes to personality and nature.
Now let's come to those individuals who are poles apart in terms of looks, background, political affiliation – even dress sense, but are almost identical in the mistakes they make in life.
Let's say we have two women leaders who look nothing like each other and vehemently try to prove that they are as different as chalk and cheese. But despite not being twins separated at birth, they say and do exactly the same thing much to the shock and  awe of their subjects.
Here are some examples.
They both believe that 'democracy' means getting as many votes as possible by any means possible.
They both love 'democracy' but hate irritants like freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom to assemble – things that kind of constitute the package deal that comes with the term.
They both believe in one-sided elections participated by the ruling party and a fake opposition party.
They both indulge their bully boys because they think that is the only way they can win the hearts, sorry, votes, of the people – through intimidation. They also believe that these 'student wings' are much needed during the gang warfare in the streets, which, by the way, is another offshoot of this version of democracy.
Did we mention that they both strongly believe that normal, civilized negotiations between two opposing parties is a laughable idea? Both think that it is only through street fighting , violence and paralysis of the main cities and towns that they can consolidate their power.
They both will call each the same names – autocrat, fascist, democracy killer.
They both are apathetic towards the loss of life, limb, property, economic and political stability their mutual venom towards each other has produced.
When in power they have no qualms about allowing their sycophants to abuse their power for tenders, SUVs, public lands, appointments in public office and of course foreign trips.
Both like to take at least a hundred people on official delegations to foreign countries.
Both quite happily turn their police forces and agencies meant to protect the security of the public into rabid lapdogs to bully the opposition or anyone who appears to be critical of them.
Both have become blind in their hatred for each other, their obsession with power and their indifference towards the people who gave them their power.
These are only some of the traits that seem uncannily the same. Could they not be called identical twins with slightly different physical features?
