The tigress saves her daughter

A small piece of news titled “Mother kills daughter's stalker” was published in your daily on March 14, 2014. Every day we read news of sexual harassment, rape, stalking, acid attacks, etc. with such indifference that it seems as if we have accepted such crimes as normal. Few of the perpetrators of these crimes get arrested or punished. Usually the stalkers have the blessings of the party in power. They harass women including teenage girls and then roam around freely like kings. But this mother did not give in to the stalker's demand. She saved her 14-year-old daughter by killing the stalker. Of course, one cannot take law in one's own hands, but in this case what could the mother do to save her daughter? If she went to the police to file a case against the 40-year-old stalker, the police might not record the case. Instead, as is now the norm in the country, they could have even threatened her for coming to the police.
Not very long ago, after the national election, a Hindu woman was raped by a group of men, whose political identity was not revealed in the report. The rapists let the victim go, only after she promised that the next day she would send her 14-year-old daughter to them to be raped. Where the hell do we live? When the mother went to the police station to file a case, she was threatened by police in the presence of the rapists. We do not know what happened to that mother and her daughter later.
We become afraid even at the thought of resisting these criminals. But no matter what the consequence might be, this mother did what she could to save her daughter.
