TIMEHOP

If you are ever feeling down and want to have a good laugh, please stalk yourself on social media. You'll be amazed at how you used to spell words without vowels or post photos of pink water bottles. Most of us were weird. Face it.
Sometimes, however, you really need to look back in time and let yourself be inspired. Maybe it was a Facebook life event about your first job or maybe it was a post about how much of a good time you had with your best friend. With Timehop, you can travel back in time to see exactly what you did a year or even four years ago. It's no magic though. The app works by syncing with your social media accounts, gaining access to photos and updates on Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook, flickr, and your device's camera roll.
Any of the updates from the past can then be shared with the world with a tap of the share button. You can send it by SMS, email, Facebook, or Twitter. These moments can also be posted with a description on Timehop itself. The app is well-organised, keeping everything separated so that it's not just a clutter of information.
One thing you should keep in mind is that you are giving Timehop access to all your photos on all devices and pretty much everything else that's on your social media. Though this app works in sync with all other apps, Timehop is essentially a third party app. The FAQ section on their website says that they collect user's personal data to deliver a rich digital history experience and not to sell it to other parties. So, even if they do not use these for advertisement or marketing purposes, you should remember that you are giving them access at the end of the day. You can however customise the accessibility, that is, allow access to certain platforms only, like Facebook and Instagram, but not your camera roll.
