TRANSFORMERS Age of Extinction
“Transformers: Age of Extinction”, the newest in the Transformers movie franchise is directed by Michael Bay. Now this movie is definitely better than the last, “Transformers: Dark of The Moon” (2011), but probably not better than the first one, “Transformers” (2007). It is sure to impress Transformers fans in particular and it provides a lot of insight about the world of these giant robots, answering some questions that have probably plagued fans for years. As for the general populace, there are a good number of reasons that'll make you enjoy it.
The story takes place four years after the battle in Chicago, from “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”. Viewers meet Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), a Texan 'inventor' who lives with his 17-year-old daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz). Cade discovers something which in turn sucks him into a mess involving Autobots, the government and the main villains of the movie (some never before seen ones, but fear not there will be no spoilers here).
As the movie proceeds, viewers may notice that the basic storyline is rather similar to those of previous Transformers movies, which makes it all a tad bit predictable. However, some unique additions, twists and revelations make the movie quite enjoyable, maintaining viewers' intrigue at most points. With a runtime of 165 minutes the movie may prove a little too lengthy for many, especially because certain themes in this film seem a bit forced and are repeated.
Those who suspected that the absence of Shia LaBeouf would make the movie a disaster will be mistaken; Wahlberg, being the action man he is, along with his well-executed comic dialogue and optimistic approach, proved fit for the role of a protagonist. To many, Cade Yeager may seem more amiable than Sam Witwicky. The movie contains a fair amount of action, fortunately more than previous ones in the franchise (namely “Dark of the Moon”) and frequent explosions that blow up anything and everything. The CGI and visual effects are impressive, maybe even flawless. Watch it in 3D and you won't regret it. In terms of combat, this movie has it all -- intense battle scenes between robots, humans, spaceships and lot more.
“Transformers: Age of Extinction” is playing at Star Cineplex now.
