Newspapers, journals and other media endorsements are viewed as an important factor in terms of determining voters' inspiration for US Presidential Elections. Some of the major newspaper endorsements have proven to be very effective and accurate. For example, in the last 156 years big gun New York Times has endorsed 39 presidential nominees; of them 24 won.

And this election season has seen some of the most unexpected newspaper endorsements. Where many newspapers have gone against their tradition of supporting Republican candidates to endorse Democrat Hillary and some others have broken their tradition of not taking sides and have taken side with Hillary Clinton.

All this happened, thanks to the controversies surrounding the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

This season, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has been endorsed by more than 200 newspapers and periodicals while her rival Donald Trump bagged only seven.

Of the top 100 dailies by 2016 circulation, 55 have endorsed Clinton. And only one, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, has endorsed Donald Trump.
