We want principled politicians
Few days ago, a minister was photographed smoking in public sitting on the stage during a public event. The incident triggered a huge hue and cry among the people. The picture was published in many dailies showing the minister taking a pleasant puff with a top rank military officer sitting next to him. As the minister faced angry backlash from all over the country he apologised. Not long ago, the chief whip in the parliament at a reception in Patuakhali asked for cash instead of crest from those who wanted to gift him crests. Instead of saying sorry he criticised the media for running the news item about his asking for money. These types of behaviours are not expected from politicians. High posts of the government should be adorned by people with moral values.
