Woes of Uttara residents

Woes of Uttara residents

I happen to be a resident of Uttara Sector 11. What had made the area special was the adjoining lake. The City Corporation has spent a considerable amount of money in its beautification by planting trees and building a lakeside walkway for the residents to  relax in the cool of the lake waters and breathe fresh air while taking their morning or evening stroll.  But alas, this was too good to last! Over the past couple of years, the lake has been transformed into an open sewage drain. The stench from the open effluent floating in the black water is so overpowering that the residents are forced to keep their doors and windows shut all the time. The lake now poses serious health and environmental hazard and is a mosquito breeding ground.
We informed the Sector 11 Kalyan Samity of the matter in writing but to no avail. The Kalyan Samity built a children's park on the lakeside which was recently inaugurated by the local MP. I wonder how she could endure the sight and stench during the brief period of her stay.
I would appeal to the authorities concerned to look into the matter from the point of health hazard, if not anything else.
