Words from a compatriot's heart

Words from a compatriot's heart

I have heard some of my countrymen saying that there is no hope in Bangladesh and thank God we live abroad. A comment like this makes me sad. It doesn't really matter where we reside but there are still things… small things… that we can do and make a difference. I am a teacher myself and I can buy a few textbooks for a child labour. A friend of mine is a banker and he can help a person to set up a tea shop. A friend of mine is a doctor and he can provide free medical service to the poor. However, if you are a millionaire, then you have more and better options.
Bangladesh is going through some difficult time right now. Since its bloody birth, it suffered famine, cyclones, political turmoil….the list goes on and on. Still it managed to stand straight.
Politicians come and go. Power and authority over people is what they want. But the country belongs to us. That's the only country we've got. It's part of our identity. We can have citizenships of a developed country but we are Bangalees. We should do our part for the country.
