Ahmadinejad to run for Iran president

Iran's hardline ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad submitted his name yesterday for registration as a candidate for May's presidential election. He had previously insisted he would not stand after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said last year that his candidacy would have a "polarising" effect on the nation.
