The University of Chittagong campus has come alive with the arrival of spring, as blooming flowers, chirping birds and fluttering butterflies bring a renewed vibrancy to the surroundings.

Pathways, gardens and faculty premises are now adorned with blossoms in shades of red, yellow, orange and purple, creating a colourful landscape that is drawing students and visitors alike.

Spread across nearly 2,300 acres and surrounded by hills and lush greenery, the University of Chittagong campus is renowned for its scenic beauty. With the arrival of spring, an abundance of blossoms adds a fresh layer of charm to the already picturesque landscape.

Students can be seen strolling along shaded paths, taking photographs and spending leisurely moments amid the vibrant floral displays. Visitors from outside the city are also flocking to the campus to take in the seasonal spectacle.

The Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science has emerged as a striking focal point this season, where blooming palash and marigold have turned the area into a vibrant natural display.

Elsewhere across the campus, gardens and open spaces are bursting with sunflowers, krishnachura, dahlias, parijat, mahua, nagkeshar, ashoka, dolonchampa, beli and basantamanjari. The blossoms fill the air with colour and fragrance, as butterflies drift among the flowers and birds chirp from the surrounding trees.

The university’s botanical garden, one of its key attractions, has also taken on a renewed charm, with roses, dahlias, chrysanthemums, cosmos and calendulas in full bloom. Each day, students and visitors gather there to soak in the seasonal beauty.

Spring also brings a renewed vibrancy to student life on campus. Amid their academic routines, many students spend time with friends along flower-lined pathways or in the gardens -- some taking photographs, others strolling around, while many simply pause to enjoy the quiet beauty of nature.

“The CU campus is a wonderful reservoir of natural beauty. In spring, the entire place becomes filled with flowers and greenery. This beauty brings peace to our minds and offers relief from academic pressure,” said Tahia Anjum Tisha, a student of Islamic History and Culture.

Prof Dr Kamal Uddin, pro-vice chancellor (administration), said, “The University of Chittagong is naturally rich in scenic beauty. In spring, that beauty multiplies with the blooming of different flowers and the presence of diverse plants and wildlife. Such a natural environment offers students mental relaxation alongside their academic activities.”
