Road accidents kill 2 in Gopalganj, Sirajganj

Our Gopalganj correspondent reported that one person was killed and at least 15 were injured, nine of them seriously when a Gopalganj-bound bus from Kashiani fell into a roadside ditch after hitting a rickshaw van on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat road near New Police Line area under the Sadar thana.

Sona Mia, 40 died on the spot and the seriously injured were admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital. They are Shabajahan Begum, China Begum, Kojina, Shilpi, Rokeya, Jahangir, Farid Ahmed, Kanan and Rabiul Alam.

The body of Soma Mia has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police seized the bus but the driver fled away.

In Sirajganj, young man Habibur Rahman died and ten people including a policeman were injured when a Sirajanj-bound bus collided with a truck near the Petrol Pump area on the Sirajganj-Bogra road.

The dead young man is the son of one Sukur Ali of Raghunath village under the Sadar thana, police said. The injured policemanShahed Alihas been sent to the Pangu Hospital in Dhaka. Others were treated at local clinics. Police seized the bus but the driver escaped.
