Five killed in road mishaps in Rajshahi, Faridpur, Comilla
Our correspondent reported from Comilla that three persons were killed and 10 injured when a bus collided head-on with a truck at Kotbari on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway Saturday night.
Selim Reza, 40, and Montaz Mia, 43, son of Tuku Mia of Araiora village under Comilla Sadar upazila, died on the spot while an unidentified person died on way to hospital. The bus was coming to Dhaka from Chittagong
A BSS report from Rajshahi said two persons were killed and five injured when a bus rammed into a cluster of roadside shops at Katakhali under Motihar police station in the city.
The dead were identified as Masud, 28, son of Samad of Bakhrabad village and Alauddin, 35, son of Alim Uddin of Mashkatadighi village. Masud died on the spot and Alauddin succumbed to injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
They were among the five who were taking tea at a stall. The rest are being treated te hospital, police said.
Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to escape. A case was recorded with Motihar police.
Another BSS report from Faridpur said at least 20 people were injured when a Khulna bound bus from Dhaka fell into a ditch Shibrampur, 10 Kilometers from the district town.
According to police, the bus-- Diganta Paribahanrolled into the ditch while overtaking a rickshaw van.
The injured person were given first aid. It is alleged that immediately after the accident, some local miscreants looted belongings of the passengers on the plea of rescuing them.
