AL rally against SQ Chy's nomination for OIC post

Speakers at an Awami League rally in the city on Friday said the person who acted against the country's independence during the Liberation War can not be nominated to contest for a dignified post in the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

The "defeated forces" have again started their activities against the country's interest by making the parliament inactive. This has to be foiled, they said.

The rally, held on the Central Shaheed Minar premises, was organised by the city unit of AL as part of the party's countrywide protests against nomination of Salaudduin Qader Chowdhury for the post of OIC secretary general and alleged remarks against Leader of the Opposition in parliament Sheikh Hasina.

People will not tolerate switching off of Opposition Leader's mike in parliament and bad remarks about the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and his daughter Sheikh Hasina, they said.

Former labour minister and Chittagong city AL president MA Mannan presided over the rally, addressed by among others Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, and AL leaders Kazi Enamul Haque Danu, Alhaj Badiul Alam and Ibrahim Hossain Babul.
