AL on streets on BNP demonstration day
Awami League and its front organisations brought out a procession in the town and held a rally protesting what it called 'repression' on and filing of 'false cases' against AL workers and implicating the party in Bogra ammunition haul.
It was alleged by BNP that the house of its central assistant organising secretary M H Khan Monju and the district Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal office were attacked by a section of the processionists.
The procession terminated in front of the district AL office, where the rally was held. AL leaders including former lawmaker Kazi Abdur Rashid, Sheikh M Yunus Ali, Sardar Abdul Hye and M Ali Khan Abu Mia addressed the rally.
The district BNP suspended the scheduled demonstration programme on the day, called by central BNP against ' anarchy, violence, and other destructive activities by the opposition'.
When asked district BNP general secretary M Mansur Ali said they suspended their programme apprehending clash with AL.
