Bad time for some school teachers
Agitated guardians dipped in a pond four teachers of a girls high school in Palashbari upaila and locked another school in Sadullaput upazila as the headmaster could not be traced out.
All these happened because of very poor result of the schools in the Secondary School Certificate examination, announced last week.
None of the 34 examinees from Saterpara Mofizuddin Girls High School in Palashbari Upazila passed.
On July 16, agitated guardians thronged the school to 'teach the teachers a lesson'. But no teacher was found a about 10 am. The guardians waited with patience. At about noon, four teachers came.
The agitated guardians took the teachers to a nearby pond and compelled them to take a dip. The other teachers did not come to school that day.
In Sadullapur upazila, guardians, joined by students, locked the Kamarpara Girls High School as only eight out of 66 examinees passed. Its head master Jahangir Alam is not found since announcement of the result, sources said.
Talking to his correspondent, Kamrul Hasan Faruk, headmaster of Kholahati Giral High School in Gaibandha Sadar, said many schools allowed cheating in examinations earlier. This year, strict measures against cheating brought debacle for them. The situation will improve gradually, he said.
TIM Mizanur Rahman, Principal of Langa Bazar College in Gaibandha Sadar said, "This result is exactly which we really deserve. The situation will undoubtedly improve".
