Four of the convicts were handed down the punished in absentia and one died, court sources said.

They were convicted for killing one Sunil Biswas at Maspara village under Kotalipara upazila in Gopalgonj district on December 28, 1992.

Sunil had gone to the house of Biren Biswas to listen to Ramayan songs, where he was killed at midnight as per an earlier plan.

The killers hide the body under water hyacinth near the house of Biren Biswas.

A case was filed with Kotalipara police station in on January 25, 1993. Police submitted charge sheet against 10 people.

After examining records and witnesses, District and Session Judge Md Abul Hossain delivered the judgment on Wednesday.
