People frustrated at JS performance, says Noman
He was addressing the inaugural function of Clinic Plus-Prothom Alo 11th Inter-school Parliamentary Debate Competition, held at the Shilpakala Academy in the port city on Friday.
Debate in parliament should be aimed at reaching consensus on national issues. But the purpose is often missed, he regretted without naming any political party.
Debate can form a new society, a new country and a new nation, he said and urged the children and youths to practise debate.
"Dristi", a cultural organisation, organised the competition.
Assistant Editor of the Prothom Alo Biswajit Chowdhury; manager of Liver Brothers Bangladesh, Hasan Zafar Chowdhury; BMA Chittagong unit joint secretary Dr Shahadat Hossain and TV personality Abdun Nur Tushar were also present at the function.
Hasina Reza Soma, president of Dristi and principal of Gems English Medium School, presided over the function.
On the first day, nine competitions were held. Chittagong Government High School, Silver Bells School, Nasirabad Boys School, Dr Khastagir School, Ispahani Public School, Ankur Society School, Kapsgoal City Corporation Girls High School, Myron Sun School and College and Chittagong Government Girls High School took part in the competitions on the first day.
Eighteen educational institution in Chittagong are taking part in the competition.
