Police officer assaulted by mob in Barisal

Eye witnesses said Sub Inspector (SI) Shahjalal of Barisal Kotwali thana entered JCD leader Shakhawat Rumman's in plainclothes without prior information and tried to nab his cousin also a BCL activist named Shohag on Sunday. At that time he did not show any warrant of arrest to the inhabitants of the house.

At this stage the family members challenged the SI who, instead of satisfying them, physically assaulted them and other female members including children.

Inhabitants of the house and locals became annoyed and attacked the SI whom Kotwali police rescued.

Later, local member of parliament (MP) Majibur Rahman Sarwar settled the matter through a compromise meeting.
