BCL leader arrested in Bagerhat while collecting toll
A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader was arrested by Kachua police in Bagerhat district while collecting illegal toll from a businessman named Nirmol Kumar Nandy from Badhal bazaar on Wednesday.
The arrested was identified as Sohel Hasan Kakon, 25.
Police said Kakon was the former Vice President (VP) of Projpur Shurawardy Government College Students' Union.
Police and eye-witnesses said Kakon was caught red-handed by angry crowd while he and his associates went to Badhal bazaar to receive Tk 5 lakh as toll from Nirmol Nanday.
However, others escaped when chased by people. Police recovered a motor cycle and a mobile phone set from the toll collectors who identified them as extremists.
