Smugglers implicate a BDR source in false case
Abu Bakkar Sardar, son of Wahed Ali Sardar of Padma Shakhra village in Sadar upazila fell in smugglers' wrath when he helped BDR seize 150 maunds of palm oil on November 1 last year. The smugglers were smuggling out palm oil to India from the bordering village.
He was released on bail after one month's detention. After release he appealed to the higher authorities at a press conference at Satkhira Press Club on February 11 for safety and security. Smugglers have threatened him to leave the area or face death. He also sought intervention of the higher authorities to get rid of false allegations.
They took him to Bhomra Union Parsihad (UP) office on December 2 last year. Bhomra UP Chairman's men beat him up confining in a room. They implicated him in a false case and handed over him to police with 10 bottles of Phensidyl and a pistol.
A case was filed with Satkhira thana.
