BNP-Jubo Dal clash leaves 8 hurt in Gaibandha
Eight persons were injured in the clash.
A revolver was also recovered from the spot.
The injured are: Abdus Samad Maro, Sobhan, Bakul, Ful Miah, Ranju, Shamim, Mukul and Khorsedul.
Eye witnesses and police said the clash ensued when Jubo Dal activists attacked the BNP activists after a BNP meeting was foiled due to lack of quorum. Eight persons were injured. Seven cocktails were exploded and three rounds of gunshots were fired during the clash. The entire town turned into a battlefield and common people fled for safety.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police forces were deployed in the area to avoid further clash. Polashbari thana officer-in-charge Chitya Ranjan Pal told The Daily Star that a revolver was diposited by convener of four-party alliance Abdul Hadi.
Injured secretary of the upazila unit of BNP Abdus Samad Mondal was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. BNP and Jubo Dal blamed each other for the clash.
