Mother, baby slaughtered in Nilphamari

Her 12 year-old step son survived a similar attempt and is in a critical condition at hospital with cut injury in the neck.

Some unidentified people entered the house of one Azizul Islam and slaughtered his second wife Mnira Bagam, 20, and his 48 days-old son.

His 12-year-old the son Abdullah from his first wife was sleeping in another room.

Next morning, neighbors heard groaning sound from a room in the house. They found Abdullah groaning on blood. More horror awaited them.

As they peeped into the other room, they saw slaughtered bodies of Monira Begum and her baby.

Neighbours rushed Abdullah to Syedpur Sader Hospital. He was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

Azizul told newsmen and police that did not stay at his house as he was threatened with death by a person with whom he had a land dispute. The murders have been committed by that person, he claimed.

But police suspects that Azizul is involved in gruesome murders. Azizul's first wife is dead.
