Dowry demanded from husband !

Mohadev Chandra Mondal, son of Atul Chandra of village Gurguri in Assassuni upazila married Madhabi Rani Sarkar, daughter of Anil Sarkar of Alipur village in the Sadar upazila, two year ago. They have a female child.

Mohadev filed the case on March 25 accusing his wife Madhabi Rani Mondal, fatehr-in-law Anil Sarkar and brother-in-law Jaleswar Sarkar for demanding Tk 50,000 or a bigha of land in his wife's name as dowry.

When contacted, Madhabi refuted the allegation. She said that at the time of their marriage, Mohadev took Tk 14000, a gold chain and a TV set as dowry. Later her husband demanded more dowry. As her father failed to fulfil the demand, her husband sent her to her father's house ten months ago.

But Mohadev said he went to bring her back but she did not come with him. So he filed the case.
