Joy turns into grief

Joy turned into grief when one person was killed and 10 others injured in a clash over playing carom at Laxmipur village in Palashbari upazila.

Four youths were playing carom in exchange for money at the house one person named Hazarat Ali on April 9. When a pair won the game they rejoiced. At this the defeated pair became furious and abused them. Then they exchanged hot words. Finally they locked in a fierce clash.

At this stage a 70-year-old man named Mokbul Hossain came to cool down the conflicting groups. But the clash turned bloody as supporters of both the pairs armed with lethal weapons swooped on each other causing serious injuries to 11 persons. All of them were removed to Palashbari Health Complex where Mokbul died on April 10.

A case was filed with Palshbari police station accusing seven persons. None was arrested.
