4,000 in Godagari out of voters' list
After an Election Commission (EC) circular in January, about 5,500 voters applied for enlistment of their names in the voters' list. At least nine committees scrutinised the applicants and sent the voters' names to the Upazila Election Office for approval.
But names of only 1,500 applicants were sent to the District Election Office 'illegally deducting other names' for final approval, it is widely alleged.
Failing to find out their names in the final list, many applicants are visiting the EC offices in Godagari upazila and the district headquarters regularly to press for enlisting their names.
On contact, district election officer Sayed Ahmed Musa told this correspondent that the allegations are being investigated.
