Dacoit lynched, 6 held in B'baria

The villagers handed over the seven along with one recovered firearm to Nabinagar thana, police said.

Police took them to Nabnagor Upazila Health Complex, where one of them died moments later. The identity of the dead could not be known.

The rest six are Sawkat Mia, Akter Mia, Md Hefjo Mia, Babul Mia, Shahbaz, and Md Alauddin. One of them is from Chittagong and the rest are from different areas of Brahmanbaria, police said.

As the gang entered the house of one Habibur Rahman, inmates raised a hue and cry. Neighbours hemmed in and caught the dacoits.

Brahmanbaria Police Superintendent ATM Tarek visited the spot.
