11 cops found neglecting their duty
The one-member departmental inquiry committee headed by a sub-inspector of police submitted the report to the higher authorities on April 22.
The guilty police personnel include a havilder, two naeks and eight constables of police who were discharging their duties at the Barisal range office of the deputy inspector general (DIG) of police where body of a young workshop businessman was found on April 5, 2004.
In protest, local people agitated, cordoned the DIG office and damaged its collapsible gate. They also organised protest procession, observed token strike and other programmes.
However, two night guards of Barisal divisional headquarters complex were not questioned during the investigation, locals alleged.
