Gournadi Jubo League leader strangled

Gournadi municipality Jubo League joint secretary Saidul Huq Khan,35, was called out of his house at Baro Kasba village by Hakim Khan, a cadre of BNP-supported ward commissioner candidate Sanaullah Khan and associates on Saturday night. Since then he was missing.

Local people found the body about half kilometre from his house on Sunday morning.

Police recovered the body and sent it to morgue for autopsy. Primary signs showed that Saidul was strangled.

Police and family sources told this correspondent the victim left his native village after the national election on October 1, 2001. He came back to his village home from Chittagong to caste vote in favour of his cousin Nuru Khan, a commissioner candidate of Ward No 2 in Gournadi Pourasabha.

His wife revealed that BNP cadres of Sanaullah threatened to kill her husband just after his return home.
