3 missing, 10 hurt as bridge collapses in Borhanuddin

Road link between Barisal and Bhola is now snapped. The sand-loaded truck, rickshaws and at least 50 people who were on the bridge fell into the canal water.

Two women passengers travelling in a rickshaw and truck helper Humayun Kabir are missing, witnesses said and local officials when contacted said.

LGED Engineer Ejal Ahmed said the bridge collapsed as it became weaker after it was hit by a truck Saturday morning.

Among the injured, Sonali Bank Senior Auditor Solaiman Khan, night guard Majibur Rahman, Borhaniddin Upazila Youth Development Officer Mirzanur Rahaman and his five year-old daughter, rickshawpuller Nirob Hossain and truck helper Jewel have been admitted to Borhanuddin Hospital, hospital sources said.
