Cop held on charge of snatching gold

The arrested is constable (No-276) Md Amanat Ali, 40, working at Khulna Police Training Centre in the town.

Police sources said, Amanat Ali came to Patuakhali thana from Khulna on July 21. Prior to his return to Khulna he went to a jewelry house in Sadar Road area and introduced himself as a second officer of Sadar police station to shop owner Bipul Kanti. He took two gold chains without paying it.

During his return journey Amanat boarded a ferry on the river. At that time Patuakhali thana police reached there with the jewelry shop owner and arrested him.

Amanat Ali is the father of four children of Noragati village in Kalia upazila, Narail.

A case was filed with Sadar thana.
