11 UP leaders killed, 26 hurt in 9 months
Eleven Union Parishad chairmen and 26 members were murdered in terrorist attacks and incidents of violence in the country in nine months from October last year to May this year.
This was disclosed by Democracy Watch at a press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Thursday.
Seventy-four UP members were injured in such incidents during the period, it said in a report prepared on the basis of newspaper reports.
Thirty-six cases were filled against UP representatives during the period.
A UP representative was sentenced to death and four got various prison terms.
Seven UP representatives were arrested in cases, Program Manager of Democracy Watch Mostafa Sohel said in a written statement.
