Diarrhoea kills 7 in Mymensingh
But unofficial sources claimed that the death toll would be at least double the official figure and that the number of attacked people would be over 5,000 in the district.
Of the dead, four have been identified as Siraj Ali, 96, Idris Ali, 75 and Rasheda, 28, of Panihari village in Phulpur upazila and Lima, 9, of Malatipur village in Muktagaccha upazila.
One each died in Dhubura, Nandail and Haluaghat upazilas but their identity could not be known.
The sources at Civil Surgeon's office said 158 medical teams are working in flood affected 12 upazilas of the district. The disease is under control, they claimed.
Treatment of diarrhoea is being hampered in upazila health complexes due short supply of oral saline and intravenous saline, they said. The supply is about one fourth of demand, they claimed.
