Edn official sued

The Deputy Director of the Primary Education Directorate, Rajshahi was sued by a primary scholarship examinee's father recently.

Ishfaqul Kabir, a student of Ahmed Uddin Shah Shishu Niketon here appeared in the Primary Scholarship Examination in 2003. After publication of result it was found the student could not come out successful. In the examination, 13 students of the school got scholarship under talent pool, while two others got scholarship in general grade.

Brilliant student Kabir always achieved A plus from Play group to Class five. He also won the Ahmed Uddin Shah Medal for his extra-ordinary achievement in examinations.

On April 5, Kabir's father Harun-or-Rashid appealed to the aforesaid official for re-examination of his son's examination scripts. When he did not receive any reply from the official he served a legal notice to the Deputy Director through Gaibandha Sub-Judge Court.

This time the official confessed about missing of the examinee's English answer scripts. In reply he mentioned the chief examiner had lost the bundle of English answer scripts on April 26, 2004 in a road accident while he was travelling to Rajshahi from Naogaon.

However, in Kabir's mark sheet it was shown that he got 86 marks in English.
