Most of them belong to the two notorious gangs known as Kamrul Group an Zia Group.

Rab Unit-6, now stationed in Khulna, will assist Barisal police in operations to nab the outlaws, the sources said.

The victims include Union Parishad Chairman and Awami League leader Abani Baroi, Workers Party leaders Babulal Shil and Hiralal Biswas and Chhatra League leader Mantu Bepari.

Besides, outlaws are blamed for at least 50 armed clashes and incidents of attack on villagers in the areas during the period.

Meanwhile, police have launched a campaign among people to help police nab the outlaws and criminals.

Barisal Police Superintendent Mainur Rahaman Chowdhury held two meetings with grassroots level people's representatives at Agarpur and

Babuganj upazila headquarters on July 20, urging them to stand by police in their drive against outlaws.

Sources said most of the outlaws are sheltered by influential political leaders of ruling and opposition parties.
