Transport strike in five districts of the southern region was withdrawn on Thursday.

It was followed by a fruitful talk between the leaders of road transport owners and workers and the administration.

Fourteen associations of bus owners and workers called the strike on 28 routes demanding cancellation of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus service through leasing system.

The meeting was held at Khulna Circuit House on Wednesday in presence of Whip and Minister-in-Charge of Khulna district Ashraf Hossain MP, and M A H Selim, MP of Bagerhat-2 constituency.

'The strike was postponed for the time being after an assurance given by the government', according to striking transport leaders.
