Shaghata Upazila unit of the Workers' Party also brought out a procession to resist the grave situation and called upon the government to take prompt action to overcome the crisis.
A local NGO, Gano Unnayan Kendro in collaboration with Nets Bangladesh started distribution of relief materials among 5,000 destitute families in four badly affected upazilas from Thursday. Under the programme, each family will receive 20 kg rice, two kg pulse, one kg salt and one litre soybean oil.
