Procession, rally for punishment of rapists
Satkhira Nagarik Samaj organised the programmes. The procession started from the Shahid Abdur Razzak Park and terminated on the Collectorate premises with a rally.
With Prof Abu Ahmed, Convenor of the Nagarik Samaj, in the chair, thwe rally was addressed by, among others, advocate Nurul Alam, journalists Kalyan Bannerje and Ramkrishna Chakraborty, freedom fighters Abul Kalam Azad, SM Fazlul Haque, Kazem Ali and Shafiq Ahmed, Mahmud Ali Suman, Sharifullah Kaisar Suman, Sheikh Harunnar Rashid and Union Parishad member Khodeza Khatun.
The speakers alleged that, the rapists -- Razzak, Mahfuz, Kalam and Mazid --are doing crimes in the area under the shelter of a ruling party leader.
A gang raided the house of a freedom fighter at Magura village on the night of October 23, tied hands of elders and raped his two daughters. They threatened the victims' parents not to file any case.
After pressure from villagers, [police arrested Razzak, Mahfuz, Mazid, Kalam.
The speakers alleged that the ruling party leader is trying to divert the case.
