Urea production stops in Ashuganj factory

Sources at the factory said the production is suspended since 2 am on that day following technical problem in the 'single compression tube' of SNC boiler.

Engineers repaired it on Tuesday and resumed production.

But it stopped after some hours on the same day due to mechanical fault. It could not be mended till writing of this report yesterday morning.

When contacted, Md Rukan Uddin, General Manager (Engineering), said the repair work is nearing completion.

The factory produces 1,500 metric tonnes of urea a day. The disruption in production will not affect normal supply of urea as 1,17,000 tonnes are stored in the factory godown , the sources said.
