Two daughters of freedom fighters raped: Punishment to culprits demanded
A meeting was also held on the Satkhira Collectorate premises protesting the incident.
Satkhira Nagarik Samaj organized the procession and the meeting.
Processionists submitted separate memorandums to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Police Super (SP) of Satkhira to press home their seven points of demands.
The demands include arrest of rapists and their godfather, trial of the case under Speedy Trial Act, re-investigation of Mahfuza rape case, arrest of 'Fatwabaz' of Tala and Shyamnagar, arrest of rapists of a newly married house wife in Kalaroa, a minor girl in Kaliganj including a teen age girl at Kapashdanga in Tala.
The meeting was presided over by Prof Abu Ahmed, Convener, Satkhira Nagarik Samaj.
It was addressed, among others, by Principal Asit Kumer Majumdar, advocate Nurul Alam, journalists Ram Krisna Chakraborty, Kamruzzaman and Reporters Club Member- Secretary Kazi Dulal freedom fighters Prof Subhas Chandra Sarkar, Abdur Rashid, Abdul Zabbar and Shafiq Ahmed, advocate Farida Akter Banu, Saifullah Lasker, Shudhangu Shekhar Sarker, Al-Mahmud Palash, Mahbub Elahi, Sharifullah Kaisar Suman, Sheikh Harunnar Rashid, Wahab Ali, Kazi Akhtar Hossain and Abdus Sattar.
Speakers said, rapists, Razzak, Mahfuz, Kalam, Mazid and others have been torturing women in the area under shelter of a local godfather and ruling party leader Golder Bozlur Rahman.
They observed that even after one month of the incident, police failed to nab the culprits who are threatening victims' family.
Culprits raided the house of a freedom fighter on the fateful night and tied hands and eyes of parents and raped two daughters of the freedom fighter.
Later, they threatened victim's parents not to disclose the incident to police.
However, after pressure from villagers police rushed to the spot on November 2 and rescued the victims and arrested Razzak, Mahfuz, Mazid, Kalam. But a leader of the ruling party who is godfather of the culprits is trying to divert the case to save the culprits.
