Myanmar children want to go back home

'I would like to return to my homeland to observe the global day along with my friends there,' said Aung Aung, a 10-year-old boy. Like Aung, many other refugee children echoed the same tone.

Some of the children were born in Myanmar while some others were born in Bangladesh as their families had to flee from their homeland to evade tyranny of rulers over there.

Mra E Gau, a former guerrilla leader, said, 'Refugee families are passing their days in hardship as their requirements are not met by the United Nation High Commi-ssion for Refugees (UNHCR)."

He said, 'The families are being harassed while getting money from the UNHCR as they cannot open any bank account in Bangladesh'.

While addressing the meting, the children also demanded release of democratic leader Aung Sun Su kyi.
